  • Carbon steel hole saws are used for making large holes in wood, plastic, plasterboard, and soft sheet metal with a maximum cutting depth of approximately 25mm.
  • Ideal for large holes i.e. plumbing pipes.
  • The central drill bit is part of the detachable accessory known as the arbor.
  • The arbor + drill bit is simply screwed to the blade before cutting commences.
  • When a clean splinter-free hole is needed, drill from both sides, this requires a pilot hole to be drilled through the object.
  • This will transfer the centre mark to the opposite side for perfect alignment.

• Medium speeds are required for wood and low speeds for metal.
• Ideally use a low-geared, high-torque drilling machine with a safety clutch.
• Make sure the drill bit is properly tightened in the arbor.
• Excessive heat can damage the blade; use a stop-start drilling action.
• A pumping action will help to extract sawdust and limit overheating.
• Deeper holes can be drilled if the excess wood is chiseled out as you proceed.

  • Partial or blind holes cannot be made with Hole Saws - use a Forstner bit instead.

Suitable for wood, plastic, and thin metal sheeting.
