Self-tapping Screws
Self-tappers have special threads which are designed to cut threads as they are driven into untapped pilot holes.
Can be used when:
- It’s impossible to tap a hole because the material (like sheet metal) is too thin.
- You don’t have access from the rear to install a nut.
- You need to disassemble to object later on, therefore a rivet won’t work.
Types available
Pan-head
- Large, flat head provides better grip.
- Screw head will be exposed.
- Pozi and slotted head drive.
Countersunk Raised head
- Used when the screws will be exposed.
- Combined with the cup washer to enhance the finish of the screw installation.
- Phillips drive screw head.
Stainless steel Countersunk
- Stainless steel screw is rust-proof, therefore ideal for exterior applications.
- Screw head will not be exposed if hole is countersunk.
- Phillips drive screw head.
